HR Clerk Interview Questions

HR Clerks are responsible for providing administrative support to HR departments. Even though duties may differ according to the HR team’s size and requirements, some of their major focus areas include posting job ads, scheduling interviews and maintaining employee records.
Candidates for this role generally have a degree in HR. Ask questions that help you know how acquainted candidates are with the job interviews, new hire onboarding and payroll. Look for candidates who are interested in learning and developing skills on the job.
Like any other HR role, look for candidates with excellent communication skills. If it is required for the position, check candidates’ ability to draft emails, prepare presentations or manage spreadsheets. If your prospective HR Clerk will be involved in payroll, you could give an Excel assignment to check their familiarity of working on spreadsheet software and managing numerical data.
