Network Administrator Job Description

We are hiring a Network Administrator responsible for maintaining a secure, efficient and reliable data communication network. In order to succeed in this role, you must have the patience for collaborating with various departments as well as the network users. You must also have the ability to configure, deploy, monitor and maintain all network equipment so as to ensure smooth operations.

Requirements

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or other related fields
  • Proven past experience as a Network Administrator in some reputable firm
  • Relevant professional certifications, preferably Juniper, Cisco, BCNE or CWNA training
  • Experience using firewalls, remote implementation of Internet VPN as well as troubleshooting or resolving network problems
  • Sound knowledge of latest practices about managing, monitoring and controlling server infrastructure
  • Knowledge of setting up and configuring of server hardware
  • Experience of securing software and data through appropriate backup and recovery methodologies
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and perform various tasks at a time while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to take quick decisions and resolve problems as soon as they arise

Responsibilities

  • Fully supporting, configuring, maintaining and upgrading in-house servers and corporate customer’s networks
  • Installing and integrating latest server applications and hardware
  • Setting up of user accounts, passwords, and permissions
  • Monitoring network performance such as network availability, utilization, latency, throughput, and goodput
  • Ensuring network connectivity and security
  • Supporting and administering third-party software applications
  • Resolving problems as soon as they are reported by the network users
  • Researching and making recommendations on server’s system administration
  • Specifying design solutions and system requirements
  • Keeping up with the latest trends by bringing necessary updates
  • Defining network procedures and policies
