Staffing Coordinator Interview Questions

Staffing Coordinators are responsible for supporting the hiring process. They advertise job openings, communicate with college alumni organizations as well as conduct pre-employment candidate screening.

During interviews, look for candidates who are familiar with full cycle recruiting, from posting vacancies to onboarding new hires. Experience with HR administrative tasks and knowledge of labor legislation tasks are essential.

Great communication skills, both written and oral are a must for this role. You can include a software test in your hiring process to test candidates’ knowledge of crafting emails and creating spreadsheets. Also, as this position involves keeping employee details and benefits confidential, ask the candidates how they managed and protected sensitive data in their previous jobs.

Behavioral questions

  • Tell me about a situation when you identified a dealbreaker early in the recruitment process.
  • How do you stay updated with labor legislation?
  • Tell me about a time when you had to fill a position on a tight deadline. What was your approach?
  • Administrative tasks can be repetitive. How do you stay motivated?

Role-specific questions

  • Name the software you use to organize candidates’ application forms and resumes?
  • What are your responsibilities after an employee gets hired?
  • What process do you follow for background checks? What information do you collect?
  • How do you eliminate bias from the screening process?

Operational and Situational questions

  • What questions do you ask during a reference check?
  • You are hiring for a particular position and an employee from that department asks you what skills you are looking for during the interview. How would you respond?
  • What information do you include in a quarterly hiring status report?
  • What are the best ways to attract potential hires at a job fair?
  • Explain the onboarding process you follow for new hires.

Ask for specific examples, then confirm the skills with a short job based skill test before the final round. A benefits specialist is the person employees call […]
